More words

Having been moved to write something about Robin Williams and the treatment of his passing by media, it became obvious that such comment would simply add to the snowball created over recent days.

Was he unfairly treated as the details of his life were paraded for public consumption? Maybe. But looking through stories published online it’s hard to pin down just one that creates the impression, and it might be the sum of the parts that makes the whole thing unedifying.

So here’s the obligatory YouTube clip of a man few of us knew, but who perhaps many of us thought we did.

He was brilliant in some films, especially Fisher King, Good Will Hunting and Dead Poets’ Society. That was always true. But it’s odd how the sombre event makes it more OK to say it.
